Public meeting called to discuss new stables for racecourse

Date:  7.30pm on Wed 3rd October
Location:  Brunton Hall, Musselburgh

A meeting has been called by Councillor John Caldwell to discuss the future of the racecourse stables. The suggestion has been made to build a dual purpose facility which it is hoped could benefit both the racecourse and the local community. It is proposed that the new facility be built on the common good land of the links area. It would have stabling for 105 horses, accommodation for visiting stablehands, a workshop and storage facilities for the groundcare teams working on both the racecourse and the nine hole golf course. It is envisaged that the dual-purpose complex could also incorporate a public cafeteria, meeting rooms, display areas and other facilities for local residents and visitors to the nearby Lagoons, providing a focal point for visitors and tourists.

Details of the cost of the project and how it will be funded will be discussed.

The meeting is open to everyone with an interest in the Lagoons area. HOOL encourages you to attend and hear about what is being proposed.
